Step into the tea fields of Yame without leaving New York. In this intimate tasting session, tea producer Haru Matsuhisa will guide you through four teas—1 oolong, 2 black teas, and 1 green tea—each grown on the same mountain and processed in collaboration with the renowned Chiyonoen tea farm. Harvested in May 2025, these teas reflect the living pulse of the Oku-Yame mountains, where organic cultivation, fertile soil, and subtle variations in processing create a remarkable diversity of aromas and flavors.
During the session, you’ll taste:
Oolong Tea – Fragrant and complex, with delicate floral notes.
Japanese Black Tea #1 – Smooth and nuanced, revealing gentle sweetness.
Japanese Black Tea #2 – Richer, deeper, with a mellow finish.
Green Tea – Fresh, umami-rich, and evocative of early summer in Yame.
Haru’s journey with Chiyonoen began in 2023, when he first worked in their tea fields and processing rooms. Since then, his annual return to Japan has deepened his connection to the land, people, and craft of tea-making. Now based in New York and Paris, he brings these hand-touched teas across continents—inviting you to experience not only their taste, but the nature and care that shaped them.
Whether you’re a tea enthusiast, a curious beginner, or someone who treasures the stories behind what’s in your cup, this tasting will connect you to the artistry and spirit of Japanese tea.
