Intangible Cultural Heritage Hand-Painted Lacquer Fan Workshop

  • 7s Art Labo 36 East Broadway, 2nd Fl New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

Led by artist Kevin Ge, this hands-on experience not only introduces the floating lacquer method but also integrates elements of Chinese painting and calligraphy. You’ll explore brush techniques, basic strokes, and how to incorporate poetic or symbolic motifs into your design—making your fan a truly personalized expression of East Asian aesthetics.

No prior experience needed—our instructor will guide you step-by-step. All materials are provided, including fan surfaces, lacquer pigments, brushes, and tools. At the end of the session, you'll take home your finished lacquer fan and a deeper appreciation for traditional Chinese artistry.
