About This Event
In this 2.5-hour workshop, participants will explore the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi — the practice of repairing broken ceramics with urushi lacquer and metal powder. Rooted in the philosophy of wabi-sabi, Kintsugi honors imperfection and transformation.
This immersive session introduces the principles, materials, and cultural background of traditional Kintsugi. Guided step by step, you will mend ceramic pieces and complete a chopstick rest accented with golden seams. Along the way, you will gain a practical understanding of urushi lacquer and the meditative rhythm of restoration.
All materials will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. Participants will take home their finished piece along with care instructions.
